Nvidia 8800GT
Looking for the perfect Christmas gift for yourself or an avid PC gamer? Look no further than Nvidia’s latest card, the 8800GT. It promises 8800GTX-like performance at an affordable price. This baby tops my current wish list for the holiday seasons.
Pros:
- Best performance/price ratio around
- Decreasing power consumption
- Silence and card’s dimensions
- PureVideo 2
Cons:
- You may have to wait for awhile unless you’re in the US.
Here’s the specification for the 8800GT and how it compares to it’s big daddy 8800GTS and 8600GTS:
The GeForce 8800GT is an exceptional card; for just about $230 (about P10350) it comes close to the power of a GeForce 8800GTX which is costs twice as much. While it only carries 512MB of GDDR3 memory, it can still perform well even with the latest games (Crysis demo anyone?) and out performs the more expensive 88GTS.
This chip boasts 754 million transistors using 65nm fabrication. It’s small, consumes less power than both the 8800GTS and the 8800GT is also quite silent despite its single slot cooling system.

isn’t it funny with nvidia, they’re making cpus now. poor intel.
Yeah. Intel is focusing on the midrange market though. It’s amazing how much their Core 2’s have dropped in price.
