Our deepest condolences to Nintendo.  As per the company’s official statement Satoru Iwata, president of Nintendo, has passed away.

Satoru was appointed president of Nintendo back in 2002 and has been part of the industry since 1993.  He’s well known by followers of the Nintendo Direct presentations as he’s almost always present in the videos and hosts the Iwata Asks interview series, which gave fans a sneak peek into currently in development Nintendo game.

Iwata-san, you will be sorely missed :(.
