Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 confirmed for June release
The follow-up to the smash hit Pokemon games, Pokemon Black and Pokemon White are set to release in June.
Pokémon games director Junichi Masuda, confirms that Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 are direct sequels to their previous games rather than an amalgamation of them just like what happened with previous Pokemon games (Pokemon Crystal was created from Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver, Pokemon Yellow was created from Red and Blue).
The good news is that Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 will both be releasing as a DS cart game rather than a 3DS game. Yes, it does make sense for a game company to utilize the latest gaming console but since the DS market (which includes the original DS, the DS lite and the DSi variants) is several times larger than the 3DS, it makes more sense to release the game on a much more compatible system.
Chances are, we’ll get to see a 3DS Pokemon bundle soon, an upgrade to the previous Pokemon black and Pokemon white bundles.
A teaser website for both games is now live for viewing.
The new games will feature new forms for Kyurem, the game’s mascot, of which Masuda identifies as “Black Kyurem” and “White Kyurem.” A little unimaginative don’t you think?
There is already an English website for both games, which you can find here, indicating motivation from the game company Game Freak for an international release. Of course having the english site say that the games are coming “soon” to North America helps as well :).
Pokémon Black/White 2 are slated for release in Japan sometime in June.
