Sony faces 10-day ban on PS3 imports in europe
Looks like it’s Sony’s turn to get hit with the legal bite.
A court in the Netherlands has ruled in favor of LG over it’s patents issues with Sony on the Blu-ray technology sitting primly inside the PlayStation 3. The result? A 10-day ban of PlayStation 3 imports all over europe. Existing stocks will remain with retailers but any incoming units will be confiscated and stored until the 10-day ban is lifted or the court complete rules against Sony.
The suit specifically targets the PlayStation 3 Slim.
What kind of loss is Sony expecting if they do manage to lose out in this licensing feud? They’ll be compensating LG for every PS3 Slim unit ever sold.
Ouch.
