Capcom: Monster Hunter Portable 3rd ships 3 million units
Capcom’s current cash cow Monster Hunter Portable 3rd (that’s the PSP version of Monster Hunter Tri for the Wii) has reached an epic milestone for both the company and the game franchise. The game has shipped more than 3 million copies in Japan since it reached the market at the start of december and Capcom is proud to claim that with this number, Monster Hunter Portable 3rd is “the fastest selling game in Capcom’s history.” It’s also the publisher’s “fastest selling PSP title to date.”
Capcom can now sit on it’s laurels, relax and have a cup of victory tea as the whole game franchise now has total sales of up to 16 million copies! But this is Capcom we’re talking about and Monster Hunter. The MMO version of the game hasn’t even reached international waters so you can imagine that number simple jumping around.
Capcom plans on extending the game’s sales by pursuing a handful of promo campaigns in Japan — events like “amusement installations located in metropolitan areas” and “large-scale promotions designed to maximize user participation.”
