Korean WOW players get Starcraft II for free
As if South Korea needed any more reason to get Starcraft II, now Blizzard is giving it away for free to WOW players. *sigh* They really get all the good stuff 🙁
According to IGN, Blizzard’s Chris Sigaty described the announcement as “a way of giving something back to such a supportive and skilled community of players.”
Now before buying a ticket, making plans to start living in Korea, Blizzard is only offering this offer to players with active World of Warcraft accounts.
No word on what having an active WOW account means (but probably you simply need an active, playing account) but this strategy might work with Korea where Blizz is planning a monthly subscription fee model for access to Starcraft II. If the concept seems alien to you, it basically means that the game will sit on the player’s hard drive and will be unlocked for play whenever ONLY when a pass is purchased.
I imagine WoW players all over the world are feeling jealous right now. 🙂
Starcraft II is set to release this July 27 and will retail for $59.99 for the regular box and $99.99 for the collectors item.
