Playing D&D on the Microsoft Surface
Microsoft’s Surface is one of the best implementations of surface (no pun intended) computing that we’ve seen so far. It’s best application so far? Recreating the Dungeons & Dragons experience and legacy on the table top. Sure it’s a work in progress but WOW! I wish we had one of these when we were still playing our weekly sessions 😀
It’s a work by a research team at Carnegie Mellon University. Players move real figurines (ala D20) over virtual dungeons, rolling virtual dices to hit, deal damage etc. It’s really an amazing project and one, as an RPG enthusiast, will continue to watch out for.
