Cosplay Rules
Open Category for the Cosplay Competition. Registration starts at 10:00am until 3:00pm.

Getting tired of eating at conventions wherein you eat while standing or sitting? This year, AniCon will have a Maid Café wherein kawaii maids in costumes will serve and entertain you.

ELIGIBILITY & REGISTRATION
- Anyone can participate in the ANICON ‘08 cosplay and registration starts at 11AM to 3 PM.
- Contestants/Cosplayers must be present during the registration.
GENERAL COSPLAY GUIDELINES
- The characters which you will be cosplaying should be from the following: Anime, Gaming, Manga, Comics, Superheroes, and Jmusic (OPEN CATEGORY).
- There will be two (2) categories for Cosplay: SOLO and GROUP. See separate guidelines below.
- Cosplayers can fill up the registration form even without a picture of what/who they are cosplaying.
- The cosplayer should be on stage 30 minutes before the cat walk otherwise they won’t be able to join and they will be disqualified.
- No dangerous or hazardous substances are allowed. This is also for the safety of other cosplayers who will go onstage.
- Real weapons are strictly NOT allowed. If your character needs to have a weapon, you can make it out of other materials. All props should be kept/carried with the utmost caution. Organizers will bear no responsibility towards any injury as a result of a cosplayer’s carelessness.
- Organizers will bear no responsibility towards the loss of any personal belongings.
- The organizers reserve the right to confiscate props that may seem potentially dangerous and/or harmful.
- No profanity or rude gestures will be tolerated onstage.
- The organizers reserve the right to withdraw the rights of participation and/or props of any cosplayer.
- The judges’ decision is final, no appeals will be entertained.
CATEGORY – (SOLO) GUIDELINES
- A Solo Cosplay participant cannot be allowed to join the group cosplay category.
- The judges will decide the final winners. A solo cosplayer could win in only one of the four major categories.
- The criteria for judging will be:
- Accuracy – How close the cosplayer’s costume resembles those of the character he/she is cosplaying (30%)
- Craftsmanship – The amount of creativity given by the cosplayer in the construction of their accessories or props (30%)
- Presentation – How well the cosplayer presented his/her character to the audience on stage (30%)
- Audience Impact (10%).
CATEGORY – (GROUP) GUIDELINES
- A group cosplay participant cannot be allowed to join another group even as a minor role actor.
- They will also not be allowed to join the solo cosplay category.
- A group must consist of at least 3 members and no more than 7 members.
- All cosplay groups will be required to do a ‘skit’ on-stage. A skit must last at least 30 seconds to no more than 5 minutes in length.
- The group can make a short play or a choreographed fight scene on stage. Limit the dancing to short steps.
- Group Cosplayers are required to submit a script so the organizers will be well-informed on what your group will be doing on-stage.
- Group Cosplayers can provide their own background music (In CD audio format. Other formats such as MP3 or MIDI will not be accepted).
- Submit the audio cd to the organizers at least 3 hours before the program starts. Organizers hold no responsibility towards any inconvenience caused as a result of faulty recording or music medium.
- The criteria for judging will be:

- Presentation – How well the group presented their skit to the audience on stage (40%)
- Audience Impact (10%).

Winning Conditions
- The judges will determine the winner(s) for each award category based on the criteria
- Judges’ decision is FINAL.
- Winners will be announced on stage in the event.
