Head to Head: PSP-2000 vs PSP-3000
The announcement of a new PSP model seems to have been met with very negative reviews and reactions for new and long time PSP owners mainly because there was so little in terms of changes between the PSP-3000 vs PSP-2000. Not unlike the past hardware change, the revisions seem to make the new unit more like the PSP-2500.
Famitsu was able to get their hands on the new unit and compare it with the current model. The difference? See for yourself:
If you’ve stopped drooling over that new screen, you’ll note that there have also been minor refinements to the PSP Slim’s design like more streamlined edges, swapping of the PSP logo for the Home button text and several minor improvements. The UMD door recieved a much needed facelift as well.
Now those changes may not seem much to the average gamer but for someone on the go (like me), the new anti-glare LCD will come really handy. As reported by Engadget Japan, the new screen has double the color gamut, about five times the contrast ratio. Talk about an overhaul.
With the response time of the new screen doubled, gamers that have complained about the PSP-1000 and 2000’s slow response time should no longer experience the a ghosting effect in certain games.
Not much new info on it so I’ll just update this post when needed.
